A one day workshop, 9.30am - 4pm approx
This is a watch and learn workshop, no laptop needed. Notes will be provided to take away summarising everything taught on the day.
- Non destructive editing.
- Start and finish the edits in lightroom.
- Do as much as possible pre photoshop.
- Use of shortcut Keys. (F, Z, O, [ ] Holding Shift, Holding ALT, space bar, \)
Rate Images - is it sharp?
Find images within images (Don't miss good ones)
Understanding the Histogram
White Balance (what is correct)
Exposure (auto a bad idea)
Avoid using the contrast slider
H,S,W,B (essentially a Curves Layer with only four sliders)
Presence controls (show gradiant filter / texture trick to smooth skin)
Tone Curve (why to not use it at the start)
HSL (The holy grail of skin tone)
How to 'Open Image in Photoshop'
Understand that Photoshop is possibly Destructive Editing.
Short Cut keys (Space bar, alt, CTRL+1, CTRL+0 -+ CTRLJ, SHIFT+BACKSPACE, CTRL+Z
How to crop and resize an image properly
How to edit skin
How to remove a posing hand quickly
How to remove background creases.
Editing Basics - Photoshop fundamentals:
Zooming in and out / moving the image around.
CTRL+J (make a copy of the original layer)
Explain the history panel
Explain the layers panel
The healing brush for the big problems and the little pesky flakes (not the spot healing brush, the clone stamp or an action)
Crop and rotate (non destructively)
Removing the adult hand from 'Head on hands' using the clone stamp and content aware filter / Add 'missing' fabric background with clone stamp
Using Liquify to reshape heads, bumps and bulges.
Flattening the image or using CTRL+SHIFT+ALT+E
How to create the layer group and why to not use an action for this.
Mixer brush vs Gausian Blur on the colour layer
Clone stamp for texture layer
Skin and background retouching using Frequency Separation
Curves - Photoshop's most important adjustment layer.
Explain how to use curves to create depth / to colour correct / create a matt effect / dodge and burn etc etc.
Save back to Lightroom (CTRL+W)
